The Department of Defense Management and Safety Engineering at the Graduate School of Convergence Science at Seoul National University of Science and Technology is a department that trains management (acquisition) and safety experts in the defense field. The department aims to contribute to the leap forward as a global defense powerhouse by increasing the efficiency of the defense acquisition system and strengthening the safety capabilities of the military.
The Department of Defense Management and Safety Engineering trains experts who contribute to national security by improving management efficiency and strengthening safety capabilities in the defense field.
In response to the rapidly changing international security environment and technological innovations of the 4th Industrial Revolution era, the department pursues efficient management of defense weapons and resources and advancement of military safety systems.
In the field of defense management, we cultivate specialized knowledge and practical capabilities for efficient execution of the defense budget, optimization of the defense procurement system, and enhancement of the competitiveness of the defense industry. In particular, we conduct education and research focusing on decision-making, cost analysis, and information management in the process of acquiring weapons systems.
In the field of defense safety engineering, we cultivate safety management capabilities in special military environments such as safety in military operations and training environments, safety in the operation of weapons systems, and safety in the storage and handling of military supplies and hazardous materials. In addition, by developing expertise in building a safety management system utilizing the latest technology and establishing policies to establish a safety culture, we foster the ability to work as a military safety expert in the policy departments of the Ministry of National Defense and the Army.
