The Department of Defense and Protection at the Graduate School of Defense Convergence Science , Seoul National University of Science and Technology, aims to lead the development of defense protection in response to the rapidly changing security situation on the Korean Peninsula. With a focus on "training advanced professionals in new, integrated protection concepts," the program teaches essential knowledge in defense planning, policy, and engineering, covering everything from initial planning to post-management. The department strives to promote the values of security and peace while providing cutting-edge education in defense protection.

The objective is to secure expertise in national and military protection policies and technologies, in line with the advancement of Defense Reform 4.0 and the evolving security environment. Additionally, the aim is to develop broad competencies that allow individuals to leverage their military experience and grow as leaders in the protection field upon transitioning to civilian careers, enabling them to become experts and contribute to various sectors of society.
* In particular, individuals from diverse fields including generals, senior officers, junior officers, non-commissioned officers, military civil servants, and defense industry professionals come together to conduct in-depth research on national and defense protection, and propose policy recommendations for advancing the protection field.
